Daddy’s Girl

If only you had known
The expanse of your gift
Immense, immeasurable,
In it’s yearning toward timelessness

If only your eyes were not dimmed
Your soul left undiminished. Perhaps
You could have awakened anew
To the possibilities
As a woman, an artist

Winter nights chilled
But could not numb
The anguish
The rage
Of love withdrawn

The fiery dart of betrayal
But not killing
Left you wounded
Pained and empty
Without borders

If only he hadn’t absorbed you
Reduced you
Broken you
Maybe you could have risen up
As your most brilliant shining artistry
Had just begun to actualize
