Proust Questionaire


Every time I read the Proust Questionnarie on the last page of Vanity Fair, I think one day I’ll answer these questions for myself. That day has finally arrived and here it is…….

Favorite virtue: compassion

Favorite qualities in a man: intelligence, loyalty, and strength of character

Favorite qualities in a woman: an innate sense of self, strength and compassion

Your chief characteristic: determination

What you appreciate the most in your friends: loyalty

Your main fault: procrastination

Your favorite occupation: reading/writing

Your idea of happiness: being in love

Your idea of misery: to never have loved or been loved in return

Where would you like to live? I don’t long for any place; it would be more about whom I was with but if I had to choose one place, it would be Big Sur in Cal.

Your favorite authors: Ernest Hemingway, Marguerite Duras, Henry MIller, Thomas Hardy, E.B. White

Your favorite poets: e.e. Cummings, Sylvia Plath, John Keats, W.H. Auden

Your favorite hero/heroines in fiction: David Bourne (Hemingway), Grady Tripp (Chabon), Jude Fawley (Hardy), Louis (E.B. White)

Your favorite painters: Thomas Wilmer Dewing, William-Adolphe Bouguereau, Maxfield Parrish

Your favorite composers: Mozart, Chopin, Debussy

Your heroes in real life: Anyone who gives selflessly

What characters in history do you hate: Hitler, Stalin

Your heroes in World history: George Washington, FDR, Winston Churchill, Douglas MacArthur

What I hate most: People who inflict themselves on others.

Your favorite motto: (both) Thoreau’s “Go confidently in the direction of your dreams! Live the life you’ve imagined” and Churchill’s “Never, never, never give up!”
