This film by British filmmaker, Sally Potter seems to have grown on me considerably. She is a truly original creative talent. The screenplay was impressively written mostly in iambic pentameter and is visually beautiful. The lines, sometimes delivered strongly or in whisper have real impact. I liked the film the first time I saw it but I don’t know, it almost seemed like there was too much to digest at first. Some films are just like that, they improve with age. If I could sum up Sally’s career in filmmaking in one word, it would be, courageous. She’s willing to take chances to explore her artistic vision and that’s rare.
